The way it was before Covid-19:
On select Saturday nights once a month, usually the third Saturday of each month, we host our own event we call a Throw Down from 6-7 pm and 7:30 - 8:30 pm. Join us for a fun hour of throwing. Price starts at $20/ball of clay. Try your hand at wheel throwing for a fun night out. Bring a friend or a date. Bring a small snack for a potluck and bring your own drinks / booze (whatever you want). Try your hand at wheel-throwing. No pressure to create a master-piece, but if you do, for $25 per piece, we will trim the bottom, bisque fire, glaze, and glaze fire your work. We have five glaze colors for you to choose from. Ages 13 yrs and up. All spaces must be RSVP'd ahead of time. You can RSVP ($20 per person) online at www.ClayArtSpace.com.
These events are not intended to make you a master potter in one night. The idea is to try out throwing clay on a wheel to see if you like it enough to take a class for more in depth learning and lots of practice. Just like learning to play piano, you have to practice, practice, practice! We will do a quick demonstration at 6 pm and another at 7:30 pm.
One ball of clay can only take so much abuse before it is mush. Each person participating can expect to be on a wheel for 15 - 30 minutes max per each ball of clay purchased. You may buy more than one ball of clay at these events! We have 10 potters wheels available. Each piece that is kept to be finished incurs a $25 fee per piece.
